So, every so often we'll get to that point in time where everyone speculates about the 'next-gen' of consoles. I'm seeing that there's plenty more life in our current range of consoles (well, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, at least - the Wii is a different story).
Here's what I've read:
Here's an analysis with the previous rumor we've heard today about the next-gen Xbox ("Xbox 720") powered by a six-core CPU with a prototype dual-GPU from AMD. And its partial announcement will be noted by Microsoft on CES 2012.

But, it does raise the question of what you'd like to see in the next generation of consoles? Do you think that the 'whole body interaction' experience that Xbox Kinect delivers is the future, or are we looking towards something new?
Create your own rumours.

I want to see graphics remain around what they are now, but set to a constant 60fps. Then more put into AI and AI and game mechanics that struggle under the technology as it currently stands.

I don't see me investing in the next round of consoles, which will be a first for me since the NES. It's PC all the way for me. Plus by that time we'll all be playing online toegther..... and the console players will hurt.

I'd like to see Sony improve their UI to something similar to Xbox Live & a replacement for the trophy system - basically replace it with a gamerscore :P Pretty sure I've mentioned this before but it should've been addressed ages ago because its still so goddamn clunky!Aside from that I'd like much faster processors to eliminate the need for HDD installation, loading, chuggy framerates & also have anti-aliasing on everything to make it more HD. There's not really much they can do for improving the graphics further aside from attempting to remove the issues that are still present in a majority of today's gamesAnd I really do hope they don't try to force the idea of digital copies of the game. I still hate digital, I hate that you can't trade back something you don't like & internet speeds & quotas are still nowhere near good enough to keep it cheap & convenient for everyday people. Especially for stuff like Skyrim that's 14GB on PC!

14g? Pff, The Old Republic will be 34!
I'm behind Slash with removing achivements and trophies. They add nothing but asshattery to onlinegames. But that'll never happen, companies can make too much through microtransactions on them.

I don't want to remove achievements, I just want a gamerscore instead of trophies for my PS3 & the ability to adjust the location of where the notifications popup :P

or data cassette?I am unsure what will happen with the next round of consoles. As you all know, in this past year I have been woo'd back to the PC for a significant amount of gaming. I doubt I will play any FPS games on a console anymore. The communities online for the PC are far more an enjoyable experience. I will never miss hearing some idiot boy american teen playing shit RnB down his 360 mic whilst trying to play CoD.
