    Well looks like the crash took the old thread away, so this is the new thread with (drumroll please).... a release date!!!

    Dec 20th for the yanks, Dec 22nd for the Euros (because otherwise the yanks would cry).  Amazon emailed me with an arrival date of around Jan 3rd, which suits me fine.  I'll be on holiday on the souht east coast until the 8th anyway, so when I get back the newbiw zones should be much clearer.

    I think I'll stick with an Oceania one, at least with my main. I was an an NA server for WoW and the time difference does not help with finding groups. But there's going to be no region blocking for servers so we can all play anywhere!

    It won't be a steam purchase. Because EA are trying to shoulder their way into the digital Market by, rather than offering a service that's worth it, denying the biggest provider out there the two biggest PC releases this year in TOR and BG3.

    Yup, no Steam for TOR, just Origin.

    Origins shite. It takes up so much memory and forces you to be online to play your games, like GFWL. I won't be using it.

    I am having the same deliberation with BF3.  Don't think I will be getting The Old Republic either....I can't justify the sub.

    One thing I'm glad about not testing TOR is that the beta client is completely different to the release.  IE, the 20g you download to test will have to be redownloaded for thfull, released game.

    I have high speed uncapped broadband so that's not an issue. All told it only took about 4 hours to download and install. Now I just have to wait til tomorrow night.

    And I can't tell you anything about the game as it's all confidential, see? Everything is on a need to know basis and you, I'm afraid, don't need to know ;)

    Actually Mikes it is alot more than 20gb whenever I was testing it on the last weekend it was about 35Gb so I would expect it to be more this time around with the new patches added to it. But as far as I am aware it will work with the release since the last beta weekend they released a new client that would allow that transition. It is in order to help those that have preordered to be ready for when the 5 day head start begins.

    Apparently all the open beta invites are going out now.  I haven't got shit, but then again I have Bf3, so nyah.

    Well they did say that "everyone" who applied for beta testing before a certain date would be definitely getting in a at some point of this beta phase. Think it was all applied before 7/11/2011 since they want to really stress test the servers for launch.
