    For almost two years now, my father has been working away in Russia and has often told me about how dangerous it is driving there.  So much so, the American company he works for doesn't allow its 'foreign' staff to drive. My father relies on taxis, buses, workmates and friends to get around (which is still a risky business!)

    General rules of the road - if there's a space, use it.  Lanes don't mean anything. Pavements are part of the road. Overtaking from all directions is permitted. Driving (and working!) under the influence of vodka...  is normal. 

    If you're stopped by the Police - they usually only want money. Pay them or suffer.
