Whoa! But I said that when I saw EA's Army of Two for the first time as well, and look how that turned out. Still, lots of potential.

Mirror's Edge is a revolutionary new take on the First Person Action Adventure category.
Patrick Soderlund, General Manager of EA DICE, commented: "We are a studio that believes in taking risks and taking games in new directions. We made the sandbox experience viable and enjoyable in Battlefield and now, we are looking to do something radical with the traditional established mechanics of first person movement."
Senior producer, Owen O'Brien, commented: "We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game."
Source: Press Release The story revolves around a runner named Faith and her struggle to free her sister from a corrupt government. She is a young woman appearing to be of Chinese descent. Her parents were killed and she was forced to grow up on the street, later becoming a runner. Faith was taught not to rely on modern forms of communication, partially because the ruthless police state prefers eavesdropping every chance they get. So electronic communication is out. As Faith attempts to rescue her sister, while running messages for the criminal underworld, she gets caught up in a series of events which lead to her being pursued by the totalitarian government. Acting as Faith's guide is a mysterious character named Mercury, who will help Faith in her attempt to outwit and overcome many government agents that are out to eliminate her.

For some reason I find myself holding back....I hope I will be proved wrong. I think it may end up a bit of a Linear-fest a la MAtrix revisited.

Nice use of colours on that, very clever how it moves you along a certain route by catching your eye.
. I don't really care if it's linear as long as it works. I'll take a focused linear game over a messy sand box one any day. My only over concern is that it might make you throw up.

The trailer left me cold. If there was one game to give me motion sickness this might be it. As someone has stated, EA know how to present a game, proof is in the pudding to coin a phrase. I'm not really sure if this will meet lofty expectations.

Shame it wasn't on earlier. I got caught up in Dead Space (final chapter now!) and with a Fifa 10 v 10 match scheduled for later tonight I may as well wait till tommorow and download it on Xbox Live.

The demo level is the one we've all come to know and love from the videos seen so far, plus a tutorial stage immediately beforehand. I've played through it three times, 'cos it's one of those games you'll want to replay until you get it perfect and it looks really cool and stylish. Rather enjoyable. Some of the moves are a bit fiddly (particularly combat moves) but the intertia and feel of physicality and weight is spot-on. One to look out for. I reckon the full game will be quite a short, replayable one, encouraging time trials and perfecting routes. There's not exactly anything to explore off the beaten track (on this level, anyway).
