SNES

Act Raiser- Hack and Slash adventure mixed with sim elements.

Aladdin- Decent Disney platformer.

Alien 3- lots of guns and lots of things to shoot, pretty hardcore difficulty as well.

Animaniacs- quirky platformer parodying various hollywood films.

Another World- Delphines action adventure game that used a unique graphical style.

Axelay- Top class shooter of the vertical variety.

Batman Returns- Beat'em up based on the dark knights second movie.

Brutal-Paws of Fury- Oddball one on one fighter where the characters learn differant moves.

Cannon Fodder- War has never been so much fun.

Castlevania- Vampire Kiss- Stripped down version of the PC engine classic but still worth a look.

Cybernator- Side scrolling mech game with plenty of firepower

Desert Fighter- Excellent isometric shooter in the style of Dessert Strike.

Desert Strike- Proff EA used to be good at something, save the world from a bloke that looks like a fallen Iraqi dictator.

Donkey Kong Country- Top class graphics and platforming fun from the days when Rare knew what they were doing.

Donkey Kong Country 2- Diddy's Kong Quest- more monkey capers of equally high quality.

Donkey Kong Country 3- Dixie Kong's Double Trouble- not up to the other two but worth a go for fans.

Dragon-The Bruce Lee Story- Excellent fighter based on the movie of Brue Lee's life.

Earth Worm Jim- Exploits with the worm that spawned his own TV show, who would have thought Shiny could fall so far?

Earth Worm Jim 2- Excellent sequal that proved there was more life in the franchise.

Equinox- Follow up to Solstice, set in an Isometric maze of traps and platforms.

First Samurai- Great port of the classic game, rock hard but full of personality.

Flash Back- Delphines stunning cyber punk tinged epic platform title, should be given to everyone at birth.

F-Zero- The start of the F-Zero franchise and great it is to.

International Superstar soccer- The game that started the football revolution and still plays like a dream.

Jurassic Park- Part top down, part doom clone, a very good use of a licence.

Jurassic Park-Part 2- The Chaos Continues- Fall on adrenaline pumping platform shooter, addictive as hell.

Jungle Strike- Back when EA made good sequals

Kick Off 3- European Challenge- Another great football title.

Killer Instinct- Rare's intricate and visiually stunning attempt to take Street Fighters crown.

King Arthurs World- Like lemmings with knights and catapults.

Kirby's Ghost Trap- Nintendo try their hands at something containing beans (that look mean)

Krusty's Super Fun House- Part lemmings, part platformer.

Lamborgini American Challenge- quirtky racer that you can play with the scope if you so wish.

Legend- Hard as nails side scrolling fighter.

Lemmings- Save the green haired little guys from certain doom.

Lemmings 2- Tribes- when one lot of lemmings simply is not enough.

Mario is Missing- Luigi tries his hand at Geography in this underated adventure.

Mario Paint- simple art package that uses the mouse.

Mario's Time Machine- History as told by the plumber.

Megaman X- At least one person is known to think this is the best platform title ever.

Metal Marines- Command and conquer style mech battle game.

Micro Machines- Multi-player joy

Micro Machines 2- More multi-player joy

Mortal Kombat 2- The definitive console version of Midways brutal fighter.

NBA Jam- Still as playable as ever two on two ball action.

Parodius- the classic gradius parody

Pilotwings- original and brilliant

Plok- Find your flag in this overlooked platformer.

Pop'n TwinBee- Excellent vertical shooter.

Populous- The god of.. erm god games.

Populous 2- same as above, but with more stuff and use of the mouse.

Prince of Perisa- The prince before he was turned 3D.

Pugsleys scavenger Hunt- quirky platformer.

Putty Squad- excellent sequal to Super Putty which refined everything.

Rock 'N' Roll Racing- The second best racer after Mario Kart to appear on the console.

Saturday Night Slammasters- Street Fighter meets wrestling in Capcoms classic fighter.

Secret Of Evermore- Slighlty drab follow on to Secret of Mana

Secret of Mana- The seminal RPG adventure.

Shadowrun- a walking definition of cyberpunk, one of the best games on the console.

Sim City- Console version of the classic game.

Skyblazer- Stunning platformer that no one has ever heard of.

Spiderman and the Xmen- Arcades Revenge- Rock hard super hero adventure

Spiderman/Venom Maximum carnage- Great fighter centering around the comic series.

Spindizzy Worlds- puzzle fun with a decent conversion of this classic.

Starwing- The only true classic starwing game

Street Fighter 2- Capcoms fighter comes home.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo- ... and gets faster wirh a few more characters

Street Racer- what happens when streetfighter meets mario kart.

Striker- Decent arcade football game.

Stunt Race FX- more great use of the FX chip

Super Bomberman- Classic action for up to four players.

Super Bomberman 2- same as above with a better single player mode.

Super Castlevania IV- The best Castlevania game.

Super Empire Strikes Back- Great game of the movie, except the first level.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts- Harder than a lump of Chuck Norris

Super Mario All Stars- A collection of the Nes games with a graphical overhaul.

Super Mario Kart- Nintendo's classic racer.

Super Mario World- The best 2D platformer there has ever been.

Super Mario World 2- Yoshi's Island- wonderfully inventive sequal.

Super Metroid- Legendary tale of Samus.

Super Probotector- Alien Rebels- The best side scrolling shooter ever?

Super Punchout- Brilliant follow up to the oddball original.

Super Putty- Good conversion of the platforming blob.

Super R-Type- Great shooter, not for wimps.

Super Smash TV- One of the best games of all time, hardcore difficulty and all the action you can eat.

Super Star Wars- Great use of the license in this platform shooter.

Super Tennis- the all time classic tennis game.

Syndicate- Take over the world just like the Americans with guns, brain washing and brute force.

The Adventures of Batman and Robin- One of the best SNES titles, every level brings something new.

The Chaos Engine- Stunning conversion of the steam punk Classic, the best music ever?

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja- Sadly the only SNES adventure for Goeman that made the UK.

The Legend of Zelda- A Link to the Past- The classic adventure that lets you play as a rabbit.

The Lost Vikings- Good conversion of the platform puzzle game.

The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse- Great fun platformer.

Theme Park- SNES version of the classic game with all new enviroment effects.

Tiny Toon Adventures- Buster Busts Lose- Another great and inventive platformer.

Troddlers- Good take on the lemmings idea with an on screen character instead of a cursor.

Turtles Tournament Fighters- Great fighter, if not up there with Street Fighter.

UN Squadron- Capcoms seminal blastathon

Unirally- Oddball racer, never been anything like it before or since.

Urban Strike- dodgy walking sections aside, a great third effort for the series.

World Cup Striker- Arcade football fun.

WWF Royal Rumble- Highly playable WWE license

X-men- mutant Apocalypse- An all time classic...... If it wasn't so criminally short

Zombies- Save the neigbours from the marauding hordes, featuring hidden day of the tentacle level.


Megadrive/ Genesis

After Burner 2- Follow up to the seminal sick inducing original.

Altered Beast- ok, it's awful, but it's so bad it is quite amusing.

Another World- Delphines second Foray into the adventure genre.

Castlevania- The New Generation- Two characters join forces to stop Dracula

Chiki Chiki Boys- Charming platform slash em'up.

Comix Zone- Brillaint beat'em up with cartoon graphics.

Cool Spot- Decent Platformer featuring the spot.

Cosmic Spacehead- Odd ball adventure/platformer in the Dizzy mold.

Cyborg Justice - Scrolling Beat 'em Up that allows you to quite literally tear your foes limb from limb. And then beat them with their limbs. And then swap them for your limbs...

Decap Attack- Attack monsters by throwing your head at them.

DR.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine- classic puzzle action.

Dragon's Fury- Decent Pinball game

Dynamite Headdy- Treasures much loved platformer.

Ecco The Dolphine- Unique dolphin based adventure.

Ecco- The Tides of Time- Decent sequal.

Flashback- Delphines third, and most loved adventure come platformer.

Global Gladiators- Join Mic and Mac in their quest to save the world.

Gunstar Heroes- One of the best games ever.

Haunting- Starring Polterguy- take control of various objects in order to scare a family away.

Herzog Zwei- Clunky but decent stratergy game

James Pond- under water based action in ponds often forgotten first adventure.

Land Stalker- The Treasures of King Nole- Isometric adventure game.

Lemmings- save the green haired loons.

Light Crusader- Treasures take on the Isometic adventure genre.

Maximum Carnage- Spidey and Venon beat up lots of people.

Mega Bomberman- It's Bomberman and it's mega.

Mega SWIV- The best home version of teh seminal shooter.

Michael Jacksons Moonwalker- Save the kids until the lawyers stop you going near them.

Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament- madcap multy player fun.

Mortal Kombat-enter the code and get the blood.

Mutant League Football- American football with monsters.

Mutant League Hockey- Ice hockey with monsters.

Power Monger- decent god game.

Puggsy - Potato-headed platforming goodness with a sizeable helping of head-scratching puzzles.

Ranger X- Great shooter

Road Rash- Ride bikes and hit people.

Road Rash 2- Ride faster bikes and hit people.

Rocket Knight Adventures- Charming platformer.

Shinobi 3- Return of the Ninja Master- Ninja based action.

Skeleton Krew- Brilliant shooter, one for all megadrive owners.

Soleil- sega tried Zelda and just come up short.

Sonic 3- Add the Knuckles cart for more fun

Sonic 3D Flickies Island- short and diverting.

Sonic and Knuckles- Sonic's stupid red buddy joins the fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog- The best sonic game... possibly.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2- Laugh as Tails repeatedly kills himself.

Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball- Hard but good pinball title.

Space Harrier 2- leap around and shoot things.

Speed Ball 2- Brillaint cyberpunk sports title.

Street Fighter 2 Special Championship Edition- the closest Megadrive owners will get to arcade street fighter.

Streets of Rage 2- One of the better scrolling fighters.

Strider- Seminal platformer that certain former staff members like a little to much.

Sub-Terranian- Overlooked thrust type game.

The Immortal- Atmospheric dungeon adventure

The Story of Thor- colourful adventure title.

Thunder Force IV- More shooting action.

Tiny Toon Adventures- Buster's Hidden Treasure- cute platformer.

Toejam and Earl- wander around with the aliens.

Vector Man- Oddball shooter.

Wiz and Liz- Make spells and haev alot of fun.

World of Illusion Starring Disney's Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck- When disney made great platform games

Shadowrun- Atmospheric cyber punk adventure.

Two Crude Dudes- decent conversion of the arcade hit.

Funny you should say that. I've been playing this on my PSP for the last week and keep thinking to myself that if Zelda had been more like this then maybe I would have enjoyed it. Neither come close to Alundra on the PSone though.

Gynoug, Zero Wing, Empire of Steel, Hellfire and Gley Lancer are all decent shmups for the MD. Also, where's Golden Axe 1 & 2? And Revenge of Shinobi? And Shadow Dancer? Dude, seriously.

I took shadow dancer out, I also took out the compilation with golden axe and shinobi on and forgot to put them back in as seperate titles.

Theres a few games that appeared on both systems not on both lists as we went for the system that fitted the game best.

The SNES and Megadrive Probotector games are completely different however, so I don't see why you would say that.
