The best games of their respective genres?

What do you think are the best games of their respective genres on the current generation of consoles?

For me, the best Platformer has to be Prince of Persia: The Sands of time. It's just such a relaxing anf fun game to play, brilliantly designed, beautiful graphics and great voice-acting (except for that **** who you help to turn on the palace traps. URGH hate his voice_

While for an FPS, I must say it has to be Halo 1. Great graphics for its time, brilliant A.I and enemy design. Warthogs, and only let down by the level repitition.

For racing games, I'd say as a whole package, it has to be Burnout 3, it's just a massive adrenaline ruch and great fun on Live. Though I am partial to F-Zero GX.

Beat-em-up has to be Soul Calibur 2. Cos Knightmare rocks.

Strategy game, I'm torn between Fire Emblem, and Advance Wars, so brilliant for the same and differant reasons. But if I had to choose, I'd go for FE since the story is a lot more involving.

RPG: Star Wras: KOTOR 1. The only game where I can be evil and get rewarded for it. *Slaughters widows*

Thats all I have thought of for now, what games do you think are the best in their respective genres? Any genre.

Best Action RPG - Zelda: The Wind Waker

Best Turn based RPG - Final Fantasy 6 *Waits for Retro to arrive and say FF7*

Platformer (2D) - Super Mario World

Platformer (3D) - Mario 64

EDIT - reads topic properly and realises he is a cretin! Will think of some more later.

Sorry for being an idiot!

Platformer: Prince of Persia Sands of Time, seeing as I can't think of any other excellent platformers at this time.

FPS: Halo

Racer: Project Gotham Racing 2, pure brilliance.

Beat-em-up: Dead or Alive: Ultimate, great fun once you get used to the gameplay.

RPG: Fable, brilliant story.

I think I too shall say PoP: SoT for best platformer. I prefer a lot of other games that are sometimes called platformers, but I think titles like Jak and Ratchet stretch the definition a little. The first Jak certainly deserves a mention - that game blew my mind when I first played it.

I don't think I play enough of other genres to come to an informed decision on the best in their fields.

Best strategy should go to either Rome or Medieval Total War (depending on preference).

As for best FPS, i'm gonna go against the prevailing oppinion and say Half Life 2.  Halo is amazing, but i think the only thing it has over HL2 is the energy shield, HL's just goes the extra mile in every other aspect.
