Mortal KombatLooks really good, finally a more serious take like what Batman Begins did for Batman to overcome the pure silliness it'd gotten itself into. The character designs are slightly different but I don't mind too much. Speaking of Mortal Kombat, both of the movies 1 & 2 are already on bluray in Canada! AU$17 each and whilst the first one is only in 720P it still looks fantastic, miles ahead of the DVD (I downloaded a bluray rip). The 2nd movie looks even better & in Loseless with 108oP. Dunno how the hell they managed to pull that off. I guess its because they had higher production values whereas Street Fighter looked as though they only had $10 with no special effects edit: Why are youtube links so hit & miss now? Before I just had to post the link & it'd work fine & actually display it

I saw that pilot short film yesterday. I will be shocked if this turns out to be anything other than a big pile of turd. It sounds like a rip off/mash up of Enter the Dragon (undercover agent/fighter sent to sort out criminal underworld) and Bloodsport (crazy tournament fighters with crazy bizarre folk in it). I think it is trying too hard to emulate the Batman Begins atmosphere rather than trying to find its own atmosphere. I just don't see a game to film translation truley working well anytime in the near future (especially as long as Uwe Boll is around  ). |

If it can keep up with what its shown in this trailer I think it'll be an awesome movie. I mean compared to the other crap videogame translations (incl SF Chunli) its easily going to be much more compelling. I prefer serious takes compared to a balance of action & unintentional comedy

Actually I think it was just a fan film....in which case it is fairly decent. If it IS a real film then awful...awful.

That 3 min trailer/short film looks pretty awesome imo (I'm sure its just a fan film yet it does hold high production values). The eyebrows are a bit excessive though but Ken certainly looks like Ken (unlike the Street Fighter movie). Does seem to be missing something, perhaps its because its not set in the streets which is what Street Fighter is all about? If it were an actual film I'd watch it but would hope it'd have something more to offer That other vid is a pretty good match! Can't get any closer than that, how the hell did Ken not die with the little bit of health he had left? I thought blocking still took away tiny bits |

Ive seen that parry fight before - that fight is a classic at tournaments, there was an interview with the guy who did it on Eurogamer a good few months ago Id recommend, hes talking about what he likes about SFIV n stuff.

I seem to be able to recognise pretty much anyone like that - the amount of times me n the missus have been watching a film or TV show and we see the back of someones head and ill say (correctly) oh look, thats XXX from XXX.
Is it a gift or a curse? I dont know.
