lol

Actually, I think the Christmas talk has been quite subdued this year so far. I noticed Christmas breaking out in various places on my way home yesterday but we haven't had the usual 3 month build-up, although I think that has a lot to do with Woolworths closing down.

The Woolworths which closed down opposite where I work (having been open for over 90 years) used to annoy me with how far in advance they would stock for and advertise the next holiday/event. They've since been replaced with a 99p store who dont do window displays and as a result we don't get Christmas shoved down our throats anymore.

The overwhelming lack of Chrismat spirit though has caused me problems in that we're now just over 3 weeks from the day and I haven't bought a single present!

For yourself?

I've only bought a kettle for my friend's mum. I have no idea what to buy anyone else.

Gosh, now you've given the game away! What if he visits the forum - he'll know what he's getting?!

Although I've only started my Christmas shopping today I've already made good headway.

For my mum I have already bought a DVD player, small iPod dock, a gift set of bath bits and perfumes. I'm also going halves with my brother on a new carpet for hall/stairs/landing at home. Luckily he works for a fitter so the materials and labour come at a considerable discount.

Frankly that's the majority of my shopping done now. My brother and I don't get each other much and I have concrete ideas of what to get the various children of the family. Beyond that is just a couple of token gifts for some friends but I'll get all those from Firebox tonight.  The biggest issue is finding somewhere to buy selection boxes now that Woolies is gone.
