I'm sure I needed to look at an FAQ at least once to complete LttP. They don't make 'em quite like that anymore.

Theyre probably scared to, being so much more mainstream and universal now.

Finally found the last carpenter, I completely forgot that you could fire arrows to incapacitate the guards. Got that membership so I can move around at will and had a quick go of the Gerudo trials. I gave up about ten minutes later when I got stuck and decided to head off into the Haunted Wastelands and then onto the Desert Collosus. I found another Great Fairy on the way who granted me the power of Nayru's Love and headed into the Spirit Temple. A quick u-turn though (because I need to be a child to progress in the temple) and Sheik turned up again to teach me a little song.

I remember there being another fairy that doubled your health (putting a white outline around you hearts). I can't remember where though.

It occured to me yesterday that I'm actually close to the end. Quite sad really, I've enjoyed my time back in Hyrule I just wish I wasn't snowed under with work and other games otherwise I'd take some time out looking for some heart containers and skulltulas. Though I will save just before Ganons Castle so I could always dip in and out at my leasure.

I did the first part of the Spirit Temple (the young Link portion) and grabbed the gauntlets after beating Iron Knuckle. I forgot how strong his axe attack was but luckily I had a fairy in a bottle for emergencies. It was a good mini-boss, but really pales in comparison to the similar characters that appeared in Wind Waker. Now I'm back as an adult so I can do the next bit of the temple. I'm aiming to get it finished this weekend, though I doubt that'll happen with Fable 2 winging its way to me.

That's the Spirit Temple done. Fantastic stuff. I forgot how good it was, some nice simple puzzles and a lovely ambient music score. All ended with a memorable final boss fight. After that was done I made a quick stop at the shops for some supplies before I headed back to the Temple of Time so I could see that big reveal moment. At the time I certainly didn't see it coming. Although it begs the question on whether Sheik was supposed to be a man or a woman. Did Zelda really give herself a penis?

ahem....anyway. Made my way to Ganons Castle where I saved the game. Let the final battle begin.

Man, that castle battle at the end is so fucking awesome, its untru - one of my favourites of all time - making your way up the tower, then the quality of the fight, the effects in there and then what happens afterwards, it still sticks in my mind like I played it yesterday.

And it's all over.

Didn't have too much trouble in Ganons Castle, but there were a few moments. Mostly the Spirit room where thanks to the low graphical quality of the game it was impossible to tell that it was a web blocking the sunlight from getting into the room. After tring everything it came down to my Fire Arrows which did the trick. Strange that a perfectly placed bombchu can't destroy the web though.

After that it was onto the final boss fight which is still the greatest final conflict in any game ever. Everything from the opening battle, to the escape from the collapsing castle to the last moment against Ganon. Stunning.

And to think there was still so much I missed. Looking at the inventory screen I've missed a bottle, a type of arrow and Biggorons Sword. Not to mention a whole host of skulltulas and heart pieces. I did save just before the fight with Ganondorf so maybe during a quite spell I shall return to Hyrule once more.
