Sicko
The missus and I got tickets to the Australian Premiere, so we were hob nobbing with TV stars.
The film was pretty stock standard Moore. Good arguments and exemples of Big Business Vs the Little Guy. Very one sided, but I'm happy with that.
What got me seething though wasn't the HMOs ro the goevernment, it was the family of the first couple in the film. Both in their late 50's, he's had 4 heart attacks ina row, she's got cancer and they had to sell their home to cover medical costs.
One of their daughter graciously 'lends' them her spare room. Que entry into spare room, about 10 foot by 10, with one quarter taken up by a copmuter and a desk.
"What happens to the computer?" asks th father.
"It stays" says the daugter.
I cleared out some stuff, there's a couple of draws in the drsser for you", she adds. The dresser was pretty massive, so two draws must ahve been a drain to clear.
No bed, most of the room still covered in their crap.
Then, one of their sons arrive and all he can talk about is how this is going to disrupt his life for 7 months.
So, this woman carried you in her womb for 9 months, went through agony you cna only imagine to give birth to you, then went through additional monatery hardship so you could go to school and have a dceent upbringing, and..... Damn, I'm seething just thinking about it.
I ended up hoping they got cancer and had heart attcks (and judging by the szie of the fat b*****d, it was only a matter of time) and then they try and get help from their kids.
Anyway, great film, recommended.
