^Seen it twice now. Not in 3D, though.

It's very good, but I still prefer Prisoner of Azkaban over the others, both book and film.

Harry Potter: The first one, about the stone.
Reminded me of a kids saturday day-time movie from the 90s, but watchable albeit a rubbish ending.

The first film and book were very good at setting the scene, although I agree, they're the weakest out of both the films and the books.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Not in cinema, a crap download which with a combination of poor quality and cropped picture made the film unenjoyable. Was alright I suppose but will reserve judgement until I see a decent quality copy

Children of Men. Big concept centred around a small man, struggling to survive while his friends die or turn on him, for the good of mankind. TV's Clive Owen does a decent enough job, and there are some incredible sequences all shot in one long take. The car seige in particular is thrilling.

Saw Transformers last night and its f**king excellent, 10/10. Effects are firstclass, transformers themselves are realised very well and all round its a top movie - exceeded all expectations.

Almost Famous
It's like, my life in a movie. Except for the love story bit. And replacing the notepad with a camera.

Sicko

The missus and I got tickets to the Australian Premiere, so we were hob nobbing with TV stars.

The film was pretty stock standard Moore.  Good arguments and exemples of Big Business Vs the Little Guy.  Very one sided, but I'm happy with that.

What got me seething though wasn't the HMOs ro the goevernment, it was the family of the first couple in the film.  Both in their late 50's, he's had 4 heart attacks ina  row, she's got cancer and they had to sell their home to cover medical costs.

One of their daughter graciously 'lends' them her spare room.  Que entry into spare room, about 10 foot by 10, with one quarter taken up by a copmuter and a desk.

"What happens to the computer?" asks th father.
"It stays" says the daugter.

I cleared out some stuff, there's a couple of draws in the drsser for you", she adds.  The dresser was pretty massive, so two draws must ahve been a drain to clear.

No bed, most of the room still covered in their crap.

Then, one of their sons arrive and all he can talk about is how this is going to disrupt his life for 7 months.

So, this woman carried you in her womb for 9 months, went through agony you cna only imagine to give birth to you, then went through additional monatery hardship so you could go to school and have a dceent upbringing, and.....  Damn, I'm seething just thinking about it.

I ended up hoping they got cancer and had heart attcks (and judging by the szie of the fat b*****d, it was only a matter of time) and then they try and get help from their kids.

Anyway, great film, recommended.

Simpsons movie:

Some good moments but wasn't really much of a movie. 'Who shot Mr Burns' was soo much better and suspensful. The kids in the cinemas however loved it which I guess is important to the overall rating. At least it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be

Black Sheep

Awesome premise, bad execution. Takes too long to get started, funny moments are too few and the zombie sheep could've been much cooler

Black Snake Moan

Now one of the main reasons why I wanted to see this is because it looked like something original and interesting - not just wanting to see Christina Ricci in her skimpy underwear for 90min with the occasional topless scene. From what I saw in the trailer, I thought Samuel Jackson's character was a mean b*****d who tortured her by tying her up with a chain, but this was not the case. Instead its a way of helping her overcome her slutty obsessive compulsions by rules and blues music.

Never a dull moment yet I did wonder if I'd been entertained or educated *ties self to a chain to avoid gaming and focus on life*

Meet the Fockers was on TV last night.

Pretty funny, plus Ben Stiller reminds me of Kermit the Frog.

Brazil. First time I've seen it, but enjoyed it a lot. Fantastic set design and style where the past meets the future. I see now where the inspiration for that episode of Futurama came from. Bureaucratic breakdowns make for such deliciously grim humour.

Vanilla Sky. Tom Cruise looking far too smug and cheery for his own good gets the smile wiped off his face. Then it becomes a cross between Eternal Sunshine and Total Recall. It's quite good, but it would have had more impact if the ending didn't spell out exactly what happened, thus eliminating any sense of ambiguity. Bonus points for Penelope Cruz' boobies!

The Terminator. Every time I watch this, I like it more and more. It's easy to forget how it all started with a (relatively) low-budget sci-fi thriller, but that it still stands up well today shows how unnecessary the sequels and expanded universe stuff are. The intensity and the terror are unsurpassed; the shoot-outs are brutal, and the characters are believable. What little comic relief there is is played by the role of the cops rather than shoe-horned into the terrified targets. I also love how creative the special effects are, particularly with the prosthetic face and animatronics. My only gripe is at the end of the car chase sequence where the cops corner them - the Terminator flees the scene and I don't find that to be in keeping with its 'relentless' nature. He could've taken those cops out, injured arm or not.
Seriously awesome movie. 9/10. I am going to continue my Terminator-athon with the sequel and hopefully enjoy the hell out of that too. It's been a while. Can't beat a good trilogy revival.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Frickin' excellent 'version' of a waste of paper book.  Had nothing to do with Robert Ludlum's novel other than the name, thank the lord in heaven cos his books aren't worth buying to beat a rapist around the head with.

Film on par with the first two and I was excited as hell to see what household item(s) Bourne would use to kill a man with this time around* (spoiler in the asterisk).

Ties up the series nicely, but I can't help feeling with what Matt Damon's been saying in the media that this franchise is going to have the life hrashed out of it.

5/5
