CPU should come with a basic fan which will be fine until you decide to overclock.

CPU without a fan will burn out very quickly, as I once learnt when I forgot to plug the fan back in. As I said above, pay a little extra attention when handling the CPU. Forgetting to connect anything else (or not connecting it properly) is not the end of the world. Kill the CPU though...

The stock fan with the i7 930 is pretty beefy, but I bought another fan (Fenrir Titan) - not that I have overclocked my system (yet)

You'll be fine with the stock fan.  Honestly, you'd be fine with some slight overclocking with the stack fan, but yeah, don't worry about it until you actually do something about it.
