Xbox One price cut to £399.99

The first Xbox One price cut is imminent. From February 28th you’ll be able to pick up the Xbox One console for £399.99.

Initially released at £429.99, despite being Microsoft’s best console launch they have still been lagging behind Sony in sales, partly because of the price difference between the two consoles. That gap has now been reduced, and to top it off you’ll also be able to get Titanfall for free.

The Titanfall bundle will release alongside the game on 14th March and include:

  • The console
  • Kinect sensor
  • Xbox One wireless controller
  • Chat headset
  • One month of Xbox Live Gold
  • Digital copy of Titanfall

When speaking to Eurogamer Xbox UK managing director Harvey Eagle said they aren’t able to offer a retroactive refund (or any other deal) to those early Xbox One adopters.

It makes sense for the price cut to come now, with Titanfall on the horizon the Xbox One has what you could finally call a system seller.

Senran Kagura Burst gets a Special Edition for Europe

Senran Kagura Burst (3DS) is released at the end of the month and today Zen United have announced a Special Edition.

The Life and Hometown Edition contains:

  • The game (obviously)
  • A 3D Poster
  • An exclusive Life and Hometown T-Shirt

Unlike a lot of other Special Editions, this one actually is, as only 500 are being made. The Special Edition can be bought exclusively from the Zen store by clicking HERE.

For those unaware, Senran Kagura Burst is a side scrolling beat em up known for its rather, ermm, scantily clad ladies. Already released in the US, it’s certainly been divisive with some praising it’s fun gameplay yet critical of the aforementioned female depictions. Here’s a trailer:

The game is released February 28th for the 3DS. Hopefully we should have a review around the same time.

The Last Of Us: Left Behind Trailer

What better way to celebrate Valentines Day than a post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world? That’s what Naughty Dog thinks anyway with the impending release of The Last Of Us: Left Behind.

This new DLC story set before the events of the main game see’s Ellie team up with new character Riley. Well, “new” to those who’ve only played the game, Riley actually first appeared in the Dark Horse comic The Last Of Us: American Dreams.

With little over three weeks away we have a trailer (opening cinematic) for the DLC, showcasing the relationship between Ellie and Riley.

The Last Of Us: Left Behind is out 14th February. And look for our review shortly thereafter.

Fable Trilogy Coming Next Month

It has been announced that the Fable Trilogy is to be released for Xbox 360 on 7th February.

The Trilogy contains Fable 2 and 3, as well as Anniversary, which is the upcoming remake of the first Fable game. The Fable 1 remake also being released as a standalone product on the same day. It was first spotted on the Xbox Live Marketplace which says, “the games in this bundle are available as individual downloads in the Xbox Games marketplace and are exactly the same”, meaning don’t expect any further enhancements.

The first two games in the series being critically acclaimed, and rightly so, only let down slightly by the usual Peter Molyneux over-selling where there’s no way it could live up to the hype and ambition. Fable 3 fared less better, but was still an enjoyable adventure. If you’ve yet to experience the series then this will definitely be worth checking out.

Lionhead have stated that they will be sharing more details on Anniversary and the Trilogy pack soon.

Rambo: The Video Game Gets New Trailer

Announced back in 2011, it’s been a long while coming, but we’re now getting closer to the release of  another John Rambo massacre.

A new trailer has been released, which you can see below.

Let’s be honest, it may not appear to be the most sophisticated of games, but if this captures the utter bloodshed and insanity of the third and fourth Rambo films then it should be fun. Hopefully.

Rambo: The Video Game arrives  on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Currently no release date has been set in stone, but Amazon have the game listed as a late February release. That’s the best we got.

Hello Games Announce No Man’s Sky

If you were crazy enough to sit through the 3 hour marathon that was the VGX then you have our sympathies.

From the drunken ramblings of Joel McHale to the fact that very little focus was spent on the awards of this so called “awards show”. Still, one game made it all worth it. That is No Man’s Sky from the Joe Danger developers Hello Games. You should probably watch the trailer:

The fact that this is from a four man team makes this even more impressive, that is if they pull off this massive world that is envisioned. The words “next-gen consoles” is all that’s known, and we have to imagine that means it’ll be appearing on both Xbox One and PS4. No release date as of yet though. It’s safe to say this is one game we have a very close eye on.

Ubisoft Release New Feature Trailer For Tom Clancy’s The Division

One of the more interesting games to come out of E3 in 2013 was Tom Clancy’s: The Division.

Ubisoft have had a busy few months, but now is the time for them to release some new details on the game. In the trailer below they show off some of the mouthwatering graphics and the technology behind it.

More was teased at the 2013 VGX and expect more information to flow in the coming months.

Atlus announce new Persona projects

It’s been a busy day for Atlus as they announce a ton of news regarding future projects in the Persona series.

First let’s start with the one everyone has been waiting for. That’s right. Persona 5 exists! Announced for PS3 with a scheduled date of Winter 2014 in Japan, unfortunately that means it’s likely to reach European shores late in 2015. The trailer below doesn’t really reveal a lot, but hey, at least we now know Persona 5 is real!

Next up we have Persona Q for the 3DS. This one definitely having a different style to other Persona games. Little is known other than it’s a dungeon crawler from the team behind Etrian Odyssey and features all your Persona 3 and 4 favourites. Due for release in Japan on June 5th 2014.

The weirdest announcement comes in the form of Persona 4: Dancing All Night. A rhythm game for the Vita with dancing Persona characters. Because why not?

And finally we have the news that Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold is coming to the PS3. Certainly exiting times for Persona fans.

New Uncharted Announced for PS4

With the Playstation 4 just going on sale in the US, Sony took the time to unveil a teaser trailer for a new Uncharted game. The game was initially teased by Lord of the Rings actor Dominic Monaghan who last month said he was “excited for the new Uncharted” before later posting a picture of himself at the Naughty Dog offices.

Little is revealed, but Naughty Dog have said there are numerous hints within the trailer. The short tease (and we definitely mean tease!) is below.

Local Edinburgh Film Company DeepFried35 prepares to release Halloween Zomedy

Edinburgh, Scotland- October 29th 2013- New local ‘Zomedy’ from film producers DeepFried35 aims to propel Scotland into the online film scene.

Local Edinburgh film company ‘DeepFried35’ are launching their debut film in time for Halloween. The ‘zomedy’ based on the video game ZombiU for the WiiU, ‘The Real ZombieU’ is due to be released on 31st October 2013 and will be available to watch online. The plot follows main character, Ron Dee on his search for an essential mystery object through a Zombie infested city. It is the first major project from ‘DeepFried35’ and showcases some of Edinburgh’s finest local talent of actors and film producers. Also featuring innovative interactive QR code technology; ‘The Real ZombieU’ is certainty aiming to push the boundaries further than any other locally produced short film.

ZombiU the game was released in November 2012 as a launch game for the WiiU console and Greg McCraw and Shaun Paul Johnston, the creators of fan film ‘The Real ZombieU’ are both fans of the game. They wanted to create a film where they could combine the game with some of their favourite zombie films such as Shaun of the Dead. They said “We were inspired by the originality of films like Shaun of the Dead and obviously we are big fans of the ZombiU game so we thought, why not incorporate the two?”

The visual effects in the film carry a ‘game-like’ feel throughout with the main characters scanning device representing the WiiU console and the on screen EKG monitor giving the illusion that the audience are playing the game. QR codes will also pop up during the film which the viewer can scan with their mobile phone to receive extra content and information about the characters which may be a first for the indie film scene. The film is both creative and clever allowing the audience to interact with the film like they could a game.

“This is the first major film we have created as ‘DeepFried35’ and wanted to make sure it was something that people would be interested in.”-Shaun and Greg. The film will contain elements of the game and the guys hope to engage the interests of both film and game aficionados, so far gaining a lot of attention from and other gaming sites alike. DeepFried35 plan to break the barriers and put Edinburgh on the online film industry map and hope by releasing ‘The Real ZombieU’ might help bridge the gap between the film and game industries.

Background Information

DeepFried35 started earlier this year when graduated film student Greg McCraw and actorShaun Paul Johnston decided to create a film company to break into the Scottish independent film scene. They wanted to emulate the success of US Freddie Wong who has rose to fame with his online short film creations. Johnston says “There’s not much going on in Edinburgh or Scotland in terms of pushing the online film industry forward. Guys like Freddy Wong have seen success from their films on YouTube in the states but no one seems to be making it big here in the UK. We wanted to show people there is great talent here in Edinburgh and the in rest of Scotland.” The guys are currently planning their second film which will go into production later this year.

Additional Information

‘The Real ZombieU’ will be available to watch online on Wednesday 31st October from: and

OlliOlli Developer Interview

OlliOlli is coming out for the PS Vita in the near future and Gamestyle had the chance to sit down with developers Roll7 to find out a bit more about the game.

We are speaking to Tom Hegarty of Roll 7

OlliOlli looking fantastic, what were your influences for the game?

The objective was to simplify the controls of a skate game as much as possible. Its all about twitch reactions, and getting the most out of your environment. In that sense it takes a lot of cues from games like Meat Boy and Dust Force. I think it’s also quite similar in it’s core game to things from the 16 bit era. We don’t start throwing tons of new features at the player as the game progresses, we aim more to give the player different situations in which to use a skillset they’ve been mastering since the start.

NEW SCREENSHOT Frontside Flip June

What makes the Vita an attractive prospect for you? We love the system at Gamestyle but it has been much maligned from some corners of the gaming media.

Roll7’s first game, Gets To The Exit was on iOS and despite some good reviews the sales didn’t make pretty reading. It was after that we decided we needed to shift to Console or PC platform, smaller markets perhaps but more a focused gaming audience. A chance meeting with James Marsden form Futurlab at Develop 2012 ended up with John Ribbins (Roll7 Game Designer) showing him the iOS concept demo for OlliOlli and James then introduced us to Shahid at Sony . We pitched a number of ideas to Sony, but OlliOlli was the one that stuck (we had to ask Shahid for our iPad back!) The transition from iOS to Vita was actually quite natural and the analog controls have hugely enhanced the way the game plays and how you as a player can interact as the skater

What do you class the game as? Skateboarding sim, Platformer, Endless Runner, a mix of all of those? Pitch the game to us!

We’re focusing on’ Arcade Sports’ as a genre at the moment. If we had to sum up the game in one line we’d say SuperMeat Boy meets Skateboarding’. You’re gonna slam a lot but if we get it right you’re also gonna be reaching for the restart button over and over! Its definitely not an Endless runner, all the levels are carefully crafted and it’s all about tricks, combos and high scores! There are actually over 120 tricks in the game + a load of unique grinds

What is the thought process for a game such as this? When people think of skateboard games, they look at Tony Hawk, Skate and the likes, this seems quite removed from that and not just because it is in 2D.

In terms of other skating games OlliOlli feels closest to ‘Skate’ in terms of its control system. People who try and play OlliOlli using Tony Hawk’s controls will not get very far! However it does has its own feel, as skaters ourselves we wanted to try and simulate certain aspects of skating that other games don’t touch on, In this case the landing. The key to big scores is stomp your tricks by pressing X just before you land to get a ‘Perfect Landing’ You can pull the most ludicrous chain of combos but if you don’t get your landing right you lose all your points….. or slam.

How much input has Sony had on the creative process? Aside from funding, have they left you to completely make the game you want? Was that part of the reason for working with them?

The Feedback form Sony is always very constructive and after our meetings with them its then play tested by their in house team and we get detailed written feedback. However, Sony make it very clear that it is our decision as to what we do and don’t implement, though on more often than not we feel that their guidance is better for the game and it tends to get implemented and perhaps tweaked along the way. We didn’t know it would work this way before we started but we’re really happy with the process.

What are the difference between making a Vita exclusive and games for the PC or Mobile platforms?

The Support from Sony is a key aspect here. We have access to DevNet where we can post any tech issues we are having in a private or public forum. We had some issues with our Audio Engine the other day and someone from Sony actually came out to our Studio! It’s great to get that kind of support the likes of which we’ve not seen on non-console platforms.

Will we get to see other titles such as ‘UR Not a Hero’, ‘Gets to the exit’ come to the Vita if this is a success? Or after OlliOlli is it a case of making another fresh game?

We’d love to put more titles on the Vita, we’ve become big fans of it since we’ve started developin, and I now play the Vita more than any other console/PC or tablet. Ur Not A Hero has actually not been released we just put out an uber early Alpha version on our site and people downloaded it and seemed to like it! We now have a publisher for Ur Not A Hero, but I can’t reveal too much about it yet.

We have a load of other concept demos that have never seen the light of day so we’d love to get those onto the Vita sometime too!

There seems to be somewhat of an Indie revolution on the Vita right now, how does it feel to be part of those early stages, being a game often quoted when upcoming Indies are being touted?

We certainly feel it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. We’ve only just got to know the Indie Community ourselves but everyone has been very friendly and welcoming as well as willing to share ideas and cross promote each other’s games.

We’re currently talking to Alan Zucconi and Nicoll Hunt about an ‘Indie Homage’ where we include each other’s characters in our games, its early days yet but check out #indiehomage on twitter

Is the game going to be an all in what you see if what you get? Or are there plans to add in some DLC levels or features down the line? There are randomly generated levels for some modes, but what are the possibilities of level creation and sharing? Or is that something you would rather steer away from?

We’re not sure on DLC at the moment but the game is going to very big without it, so hopefully you’ll be happy with what you get! 50 Levels, 50 Spots, Infinite Mode, Daily Grind mode and once you complete all that you’ll get Rad Mode, which lets you replay all the levels using the original Demo controls which are incredibly difficult to master but once you get them it gives the game a real edge!

Finally, we have to ask… Are there any secrets not revealed about the game that you can tell our readers?

Haha, they wouldn’t be secrets if I told you! Nothing to reveal right now sadl , we’ve got a few ideas but we’re focusing on making sure the already extensive game is a great experience!

Thank you Tom for your time.
